Individual Product Presentation – Exfoliating Scrubbies!

The very first product I’ve created for my small business is handmade crochet scrubbies. This product is what started it all! I crocheted these items with the idea of creating more sustainable options for environmentally conscious skincare girlies. They are reusable, practical and a great alternative to traditional disposable cotton rounds. To top it all off, they support a small, inclusive business in Ottawa, Canada!
I first learnt to crochet about five years ago – during that time, I sold my scrubbies at the Spread the Joy markets. I am self-taught! I learned how to crochet through how-to videos on Youtube and instructional articles on Pinterest. I enjoy crocheting simply for the satisfaction of creating something of my own hands and it helps me relax. However, even if it helps me relax, it can be very frustrating at times when I am having trouble or just having a plain ol’ bad knitting day!
Each scrubbie is crocheted with love and care, so they take some time to make – a single small crochet scrubbie takes me about a day to complete and a large scrubbie takes me about two days to complete! As these scrubbies are handmade, this also means that each scrubbie is unique! Unlike mass-produced products which use machines and production lines, these are made by my own hands. This may mean that some scrubbies could differ slightly in shape, textures and colors. They may not be uniformly the same – and that’s okay! We love diversity here.
How to use
Wet your scrubbie and wet your face
Add a few drops of your daily cleanser or rub it on your soap
Rub your scrubbie on your face to cleanse and exfoliate your skin
Rinse your face
Toss scrubbie in the laundry!
When you’re done using your scrubbie, you can just toss it in the laundry and have a clean scrubbie out of the wash. I recommend however putting your scrubbies in a laundry bag when you wash them. This will reduce the chances of losing one of your scrubbies!
